Audi's 3.0-litre, six-cylinder TFSI supercharged engine is one of the best choices in terms of value for money. As standard, this engine delivers 333 horsepower and is found in a wide range of Audi models such as the S4, S5, A6, A7, Q7 and SQ5. However, StartLine Motors offers several stages of engine modification to achieve up to 540 horsepower.

The Stage 1 of power enhancement is limited to rewriting the software in the engine and gearbox control computers. This work alone increases the power output of the 3.0 l TFSI engine to 420 horsepower.

With the Stage 2 modifications, the engine reaches 460 horsepower. To achieve this result, a larger engine cooler and a sports air intake system must be fitted, but the exhaust system remains original. A larger crankshaft pulley is also required, which increases the pressure in the compressor.

To reach 500 horsepower (Stage 3), the following additional modifications are made: a larger diameter pipe is fitted to the exhaust manifold (downpipe) and the original compressor-mounted pulley is replaced by a smaller one. The high-pressure and fuel tank pumps are also replaced to ensure that the engine is supplied with the correct amount of fuel. Please note that higher octane fuel is required to achieve 500 horsepower. StartLine Motors recommends a 40% ethanol blend.

The final step up for the 3.0-litre TFSI engine is 540 horsepower. This can be achieved by modifying the air intake system with a larger throttle body and enlarged air compressor passages. These are the modifications we have made to one of the world's fastest Audi S4s, which accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and covers the quarter mile in 10.81 seconds.

The car's dynamic performance is revealed by the automatic gearbox

The 3.0-litre TFSI engine is mated to the Audi S Tronic (DL501) automatic gearbox, which is fast and precise. This gearbox is found in the S4, S5 and A6 and A7 models for the European market. With proper and correct reprogramming of the gearbox control computer, it can handle 700 Nm of torque without problems. This is proven by the tests we have carried out - our test car has completed more than 400 high load launches (Launch start) without any problems, and the tests are continuing unabated.
