In order to maximise the power output of an engine, it is inevitable to cross the border of mechanical changes and modifications. Modifying parts, designing and manufacturing, testing and tuning are not only the work of StartLine Motors, but also a passion that leads to the ultimate goal of maximum results for our customers.

Engine power enhancement is divided into several stages. The first stage is the cheapest and most popular, where it is sufficient to make changes to the engine management programme and release the power reserve left by the manufacturer. 

For more power, the second stage of modification is used, where mechanical changes are also required. Increasing power at stage three allows the maximum power to be achieved. To push the limits, modifications can be made at stage four, which make the car extremely powerful and fast.

Changing the engine management programme

To achieve the maximum power output of a standard engine, it is sufficient to make software changes. This means that, depending on the make, model and engine type of the car, changing the engine management programme can allow the power reserve left by the manufacturer to be used without the need for any mechanical modifications.

The amount of power increase depends on several factors, so the final results may vary and not all cars have the same percentage of increase. For some cars, this can provide a 10-15% increase in engine power, but there are cases where 30-40% increases have been achieved.

When you want more than the standard parts allow

If there is still a power shortage after the first stage of power increase, a second stage of modifications can be made. This step requires minimal mechanical changes. The most common improvements are improvements to the air intake and exhaust systems to increase their performance, in some cases larger intercoolers, or even rarer still – better turbines needs to be fitted. 

For example, the second stage of power upgrades on the seventh generation Volkswagen Golf GTi model allows the engine power to be increased from the standard 220 hp to 350 hp and the torque to be increased from 350 to 480 Nm. 

Another example where a significant power increase can be achieved with a relatively small investment is the Audi models with the 3.0 l TFSI engine. This engine usually delivers around 330 hp as standard, but with modifications to the compressor pulleys, it can also deliver 540-560 HP. 

All modifications requered to achieve stage two are carried out at StartLine Motors, where only reliable parts are fitted and the work is carried out by experienced mechanics.

For those who want maximum results, we offer a stage three engine power upgrade service. This step allows you to exploit the engine's full potential and enjoy an unparalleled driving experience in your car.

This level of power enhancement usually involves further changes to the most important mechanical components of the car. Even larger turbochargers can be fitted as required, a more efficient fuel delivery system can be installed, and exhaust and air intake systems can be completely replaced. Rarely, however, an increase in power at this level may also require the replacement of some internal engine components with stronger parts.

Modifications of this kind are a daily routine at StartLine Motors, so even the most complex works and projects are carried out in the company's workshops.

For those who want to push the boundaries even further

Some cars have a very high potential for power increases, so StartLine Motors is determined to go beyond the limits and set new standards. These are the most challenging projects, requiring the most time, expertise and investment, but they are the ones that make it possible to create the fastest cars.

These projects often involve reinforcing and replacing elements such as connecting rods, pistons, crankshaft and liners, and widening lubrication and cooling ducts. Increasingly, methanol injection systems are being fitted to cars for maximum performance.

Test data sometimes shows that even parts from well-known manufacturers underperform, so at StartLine Motors we design and manufacture parts to the required specifications ourselves. This not only achieves the desired result, but also ensures the quality of the parts and makes retrofitting and power enhancement faster.

Modifications at this level require a lot of time in testing, designing, manufacturing and adapting new parts, and finally finding the best programmatic calibration of all elements.

Repair and maintenance

Experience in modifying and operating the fastest and most powerful versions of a wide range of cars has led to a wealth of knowledge about the most common faults and weakest elements. StartLine Motors is therefore able to offer not only retrofitting but also repair services, even for the most technically demanding car engines. 

The workshop also carries out maintenance work that requires specific attention. Owners of modified cars are advised on how to operate their vehicles properly, so that they can keep problems at bay and enjoy maximum power every time they get behind the wheel.
